Schools like MUD teach Special Effects Makeup and Character Makeup, so a little bit more than just beauty. If you're looking to do runway makeup, Character Makeup (like applying bald caps and whatnot) would be really helpful. Some designers really like doing more avant garde looks so that could be useful. Also, trust me, I know what you're talking about when you say you don't want to do hair, but if you're looking to be a marketable makeup artist, it really helps to do a little hair.
